Baseball All-Conference 2022

SNHU with a League-High Eight All-Conference Selections.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Saint Anselm's Kyle Maurice and Adelphi's Matt Alifano have been selected as the Northeast and Southwest Division Players of the Year, respectively, as the Northeast-10 Conference announced its All-Conference baseball honors on Wednesday afternoon.

Adelphi and Southern New Hampshire each recorded a pair of major award winners, while the Penmen – currently ranked first in the NCAA East Region rankings – had a league-best eight players selected to All-Conference teams. Franklin Pierce and Southern Connecticut tied for second with six selections each.

Alifano was joined by his teammate John Rizzo, who was named the Southwest Division Rookie Pitcher of the Year. SNHU had Anthony Poole receive Northeast Division Rookie Hitter of the Year and Scott Loiseau win his second-straight Bob Bellizzi Coach of the Year honor.

Additional major award winners were Assumption's Jack Choate, the Northeast Division Pitcher of the Year, and Le Moyne's Jacob Marshall, the Southwest Division Pitcher of the Year. Pace's Nicholas Montagna took home Southwest Division Rookie Hitter of the Year.

Maurice had a dynamic season for Saint Anselm, which qualified for the NE10 Baseball Championship as the No. 4 seed out of the Northeast Division. He led all NE10 players in home runs (14) and tied for second in RBI (48) and hits (63). Maurice's batting average of .396 was third-best, while he hit .424 in conference games. He was also selected as a First Team outfielder.

Alifano, one year removed from winning Southwest Division Rookie Hitter of the Year, was voted Player of the Year after leading Adelphi to its third-straight division title. His batting average of .405 was tied for the best among NE10 players, while ranking in the top 10 in the following categories: home runs (9), RBI (46), hits (62), runs (55), walks (38), on-base percentage (.520) and slugging percentage (.725). Alifano had 20 multi-hit games this season.

Choate is coming off a stunning performance for Assumption in the NE10 Baseball Championship quarterfinals on Tuesday, as he pitched a complete-game, one-hit shutout with 18 strikeouts against Franklin Pierce. He becomes the first Assumption hurler to win NE10 Pitcher of the Year honors. He leads the conference this season in strikeouts (114) and has posted a 6-2 record in nine starts with a 2.20 ERA – third-best among his peers.

Marshall helped lead Le Moyne to NE10 Baseball Championship Weekend after a strong six-inning performance against Southern Connecticut on Tuesday. He earns Southwest Division Pitcher of the Year after ranking second in the league in strikeouts (103), ninth in ERA (3.22) and second in innings pitched (78.1). Marshall is the first Dolphins' pitcher since Josiah Gray – a current Major League pitcher with the Washington Nationals – in 2018 to win Pitcher of the Year.

SNHU's Poole hit .426 in 22 games this season, while racking up four home runs and 20 RBI on his way to Northeast Division Rookie Hitter of the Year honors. Pace's Montagna, the Southwest Division Rookie Hitter of the Year, had a big season for the Setters – hitting .353 in 34 games with 32 RBI, 41 hits and 18 runs scored.

Stonehill's Haas posted an impressive 2.51 ERA – the best on his team – and recorded 43.0 innings on the mound with a 50-9 strikeout-to-walk ratio to earn Northeast Division Rookie Pitcher of the Year. Adelphi's Rizzo posted an 8-2 record this season with a 3.66 ERA for the Panthers, while striking out 55 and walking only nine in 64 innings of work. Rizzo – also a Third Team selection – was named Southwest Division Rookie Pitcher of the Year.

For the second-straight season, SNHU's Loiseau was chosen by his peers as the Bob Bellizzi Coach of the Year after leading the Penmen to their fifth-straight Northeast Division regular season title and the top seed in the NE10 Baseball Championship. The Penmen (38-8, 21-3) are ranked No. 9 in the latest NCBWA Division II Poll. It is the fifth time in his career that Loiseau has earned NE10 Coach of the Year.
