NE10 with 17 Players Earning 30 All-Region Selections.
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Adelphi's Matt Alifano and Assumption's Jack Choate have earned East Region Player and Pitcher of the Year honors, respectively, from both the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) to highlight All-Region honors for Northeast-10 Conference players.
The NE10 had 17 players earn 30 All-Region selections - with Franklin Pierce and Southern New Hampshire each with a league-high three players recognized. Nine different NE10 institutions were represented on the list of All-Region honors.
Alifano, the NE10's Southwest Division Player of the Year, helped lead Adelphi to its third-straight division title in 2021-22. His batting average of .406 is the best among NE10 players, while he ranks in the top 10 in the following categories: home runs (9), RBI (46), hits (62), runs (55), walks (38), on-base percentage (.520) and slugging percentage (.725). Alifano had 20 multi-hit games this season.
Choate, the Northeast Division Pitcher of the Year, became the first Assumption thrower to ever win NE10 Pitcher of the Year honors. He leads the conference in strikeouts (121) and has posted a 6-2 record in 10 starts with a 2.00 ERA – second-best among his peers. Choate was named to the NE10 All-Championship Team during the Baseball Championship, which was hosted by Assumption.
Six players - Alifano, Choate, Franklin Pierce's Ian Battipaglia, Saint Anselm's Kyle Maurice, Pace's Mitch McCabe and Southern New Hampshire's Trevor Anibal - earned First Team All-Region honors from both the D2CCA and NCBWA.
