NE10 Presidents' Cup 2022-23

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SNHU Edges Adelphi for Second-Ever Presidents' Cup.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – For the second consecutive season, Southern New Hampshire University has won the Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup, becoming the first institution since Merrimack College in 2017-18 and 2018-19 to win back-to-back Presidents' Cup honors. The announcement was made at the NE10 Banquet on Sunday night on the campus of Pace University.

The Presidents' Cup is presented annually to signify overall athletic excellence in the NE10. It is awarded to the institution that compiles the most cumulative points based upon overall regular season finishes in the team sports and final placement in the annual NE10 Championships in individual sports.

"Congratulations to all of the student-athletes, coaches and administrators at Southern New Hampshire for its second-straight Presidents' Cup trophy," said NE10 Commissioner Julie Ruppert. "This is an award for student-athletes and winning this honor in consecutive seasons is an incredible accomplishment. Looking at the standings this year, it is clear to see competitive balance throughout our league and we are so pleased to see all of our institutions achieving such high levels of success."

"It is with an incredible amount of Pride that we accept SNHU's second-ever NE10 Presidents' Cup," said SNHU Director of Athletics Anthony Fallacaro. "I would like to first thank the NE10 Conference and staff for this tremendous honor and all of their hard work throughout the year. An accomplishment like this starts with the support provided by my University leadership in [Vice President of Student Affairs] Heather Lorenz, [Executive Vice President, Campus Administration] Don Brezinski, [Chief Operating Officer] Amelia Manning and [University President and Chief Executive Officer] Paul LeBlanc. Thank you for providing us with the resources to compete."

"I'd also like to thank my athletic staff; our athletic operations staff, athletic trainers and our communications staff for all that they do throughout the year to support our student-athletes," added Fallacaro. "Repeating as the winner of the Presidents' Cup is no easy task and highlights what an incredible job our coaches and student-athletes did this year to once again win the NE10 Presidents' Cup. Every team is represented in the point total and that is what makes this their honor, their award and something every SNHU student-athlete can call their accomplishment."

Southern New Hampshire scored 159.0 points, besting second-place Adelphi (158.0) by just one point - matching the closest finish in the history of the NE10 Presidents' Cup. Bentley placed third with 151.0 points, Franklin Pierce finished fourth with 148.5 and Assumption was fifth with 145.0. Sponsoring 18 of the NE10's 24 sponsored sports, the Penmen tallied 76-percent of their possible 208 points - the highest mark in the league.

SNHU won NE10 regular season championships in baseball, men's basketball, men's tennis and women's tennis, while winning NE10 postseason titles in women's cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field.
