Assumption to Serve as Host for First Time Ever.
MANSFIELD, Mass. – The NCAA revealed its selections for the Division II Men's & Women's Basketball Championships on Sunday night and the Northeast-10 Conference had nine programs selected - including both East Region top seeds in the Saint Anselm men's and Assumption women's teams.
The NCAA DII Women's Basketball East Regional begins on Friday at Assumption and four NE10 teams will be competing. The Greyhounds won a share of the NE10 regular season championship with a 16-4 record in NE10 play while boasting a 24-5 record overall, on its way to earning hosting rights. Assumption will play No. 8-seeded Dominican (NY) in an NCAA first round matchup.
Southern New Hampshire, the finalist of the 2023 NE10 Women's Basketball Championship, earned the No. 2 seed and will play No. 7 St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday. Two-time reigning NE10 champion Bentley was picked as the No. 5 seed and will play No. 4 seed Le Moyne - who also won a share of the NE10 regular season title.
It is the fourth-straight season that the NE10 has had at least four women's basketball programs in the NCAA Championship field.
NCAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL BRACKET
The NCAA DII Men's Basketball East Regional begins on Saturday at Saint Anselm. The Hawks captured their 10th NE10 title in program history this weekend with a win over New Haven, on their way to securing the top seed in the East Regional. Saint Anselm will play No. 8-seed Caldwell in the first round.
The NE10 had five men's basketball programs selected - including No. 2-seeded Bentley, an NE10 semifinalist, which will play No. 7-seeded Dominican (NY). In the 4-5 matchup, New Haven - the 2023 NE10 Men's Basketball Championship finalist - will play Pace. Regular season champion SNHU, the No. 3 seed, will play No. 6 St. Thomas Aquinas.
It is the second-straight season that the NE10 has had five men's programs selected to the NCAA East Regional.
