Twice as Nice: SCSU Women Repeat as NE10 Champions

Owls Claim Third NE10 Title In Last Four Seasons


NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut led wire-to-wire in claiming the program's second straight NE10 Women's Swimming & Diving Championship and 14th title overall in Hutchinson Natatorium on the campus of Southern Connecticut on Sunday evening. The Owls finished with 932 total points, winning by over 200 points. Bentley took second overall with 711 points as the Falcons edged out Assumption on the final relay of the night and that was the difference as the Greyhounds totaled 710 points. 

Despite her team taking fifth overall, Saint Rose's Colleen Quaglia was selected as the Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet after winning all three of her individual events, the 200 Butterfly, 400 IM and 500 Free. She was also honored as the Elite 24 Award winner for the second time in her career, for owning the highest GPA at the Championship. The graduate student had a 4.0 GPA as a undergraduate accounting major. Bentley diver Mary Huminski earned the Diver of the Meet award after sweeping both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. 

For the weekend, the Owls accounted for 18 total medals – five Gold, seven Silver and six Bronze. Arianna Arturi captured a team-high six medals including Gold in the 200 and 400 Yard Freestyle Relays. Freshman Justice Glasgow won four Gold medals, as well as a Silver in the 400 Medley Relay. Nicole Cislo, competing in her final conference championship, also had four medals, including Silver in the 400 Medley Relay, 200 Medley Relay and 200 Yard Breaststroke and a Gold in the 200 Medley Relay. Ella Marzec and Olivia Strelevitz both took home four medals, each winning three Golds including three relay together. 

To start the final day of the four-day event, Faith Littleton finished second in the 1,650 Yard Freestyle with a time of 17:50.40. Littleton won the championship as a freshman in 2020 and has medaled in the event in back-to-back years. Natalie Weier and Gracie Marsh finished fifth and sixth, respectively. 

In the 200 Yard Backstroke, Maddie Dean won her third medal of the weekend with a third-place finish for Bronze with a time of 2:07.66. Olivia Strelevitz was close-behind in fourth place at 2:07.84. Arturi then won her fifth medal with a third-place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle event with a time of 53.05. Lindsay McCawley won the 200 Yard Breaststroke Championship with a time of 2:23.32, finishing alongside Cislo, who captured Silver, with a time of 2:24.73.
