NE10 Releases Women’s Swimming & Diving Major Awards

Bentley Takes Home Four of Five Major Awards


MANSFIELD, Mass. – Saint Rose's Colleen Quaglia capped off an impressive career with one final award while Bentley swept the four remaining NE10 women's swimming & diving major awards, as announced by the conference on Friday. 

Quaglia secured Swimmer of the Year honors for the second time in her career, while Bentley's Mary Huminski secured Diver of the Year recognition again. The Falcons' Emma Hapkiewicz earned Rookie of the Year honors while Mary Kay Samko was named Swimming Coach of the Year and Rick Danehy took home Diving Coach of the Year. 

Quaglia capped off her impressive career by being named the Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet at the NE10 Championships. She won all three of her individual events, the 200 butterfly (2:04.71), 400 IM (4:29.04) and the 500 free (4:59.28). She earned NCAA B times in all three events, along with the 200 freestyle (1:52.07).  Quaglia was also named NE10 Swimmer of the Year in 2018-19. 

Huminski secured her second straight Diver of the Year honors after sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. She won the 3-meter event by over 25 points with a score of 407.05 and claimed the 1-meter event by just five points with her score of 435.00. She also competed in the NCAA Division II Diving Qualifier following the regular season.   

Hapkiewicz was the lone NE10 swimmer to qualify for the NCAA Championships. She had her best finish in the 1650 freestyle as he placed 17th overall in 17:16.68. She also swam the 500 and set a new school record in the 1000 at the NCAA Championships. In the NE10 Championships she won NE10 Championships in the 1650 and the 1000 while setting an NE10 record with her 1650 time of 17:12.89. She was the runner-up in the 500 free. 

Samko earned her first-ever Women's Swimming Coach of the Year honor after leading the Falcons to their second runner-up finish in the last six years. Her team captured ten gold medals, seven silvers and three bronze medals. Danehy earned his seventh Diving Coach of the Year honor and his third straight after having his divers go 1-2 in the 3-meter and take home gold in the 1-meter event.
