NE10 Men's Outdoor Track & Field Report: Week 4

Week 4 - April 27, 2021

NE10 Men's Track Athlete of the Week

Nigel Green, Southern Conn.
Senior | Sprints | Shirley, N.Y.

At the UConn Northeast Invitational, Green finished in first place in the 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 10.30, the fastest time in the NE10 this year. Green also finished in second place in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 21.13, also the fastest in the NE10 this year. Green and his 4x100-meter relay team also finished in third place with a time of 42.40 seconds.


NE10 Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Oghenefejiro Onakpoma, Southern Conn.
Senior | Jumps | Naugatuck, Conn.

Onakpoma recorded a triple-jump leap of 15.23 meters at the UConn Northeast Invitational, the seventh longest leap in all of Division II this season and the longest among all Division II athletes last week. It was also the longest leap by an NE10 athlete by 0.63 meters this season.


NE10 Men's Track Rookie of the Week

Yvan Lopes Ribeiro , American Int'l
Freshman | Sprints | Springfield, Mass.

Lopes Ribeiro put in impressive work at the Bryant Invitational in both the triple jump and 110-meter hurdles; he finished second in the triple jump and ranks second in the conference in that event, and won the 110-hurdles with a PQ time of 14.41 seconds, .43 seconds faster than anyone else in the NE10.


NE10 Men's Field Rookie of the Week

Jordan Davis, Southern Conn.
Freshman | Throws | Wallingford, Conn.

Davis finished in third place in the javelin throw with a mark of 62.11 meters, the longest throw by a freshman at the meet and the ninth longest throw in program history.


NE10 Men's Relay of the Week

Southern Conn. 4x100 Relay

SCSU's 4x100-meter relay team of Jaylynn Cundiff, Tariq Phillips, Christ N'Dabian, and Nigel Green finished in third place with a time of 42.40 seconds at the UConn Invite. The time is better than any other program in the NE10 this season and just off the team's best 4x100 of the year.


NE10 Weekly Honor Roll 

Benoit Campion, American Int'l (Gr. - Guipavas, France)
Campion took both the 800 and 1500-meter runs at the Bryant Invitational in impressive fashion over the weekend, especially in the latter, where he had the ninth-fastest time in the nation and best in the NE10 this season. His time in the 800 was the NE10's best of the week and second in the conference this season, behind only teammate Clement Paillon.

Ja'Lil Reynolds, The College of Saint Rose (Fr. - Hopewell Junction, N.Y.)
Freshman Ja'Lil Reynolds established a program record in the high jump with a mark of 2.00m. The height is good for tops in the East Region and NE10.

Ethan Famiano, Stonehill (Sr. - Warwick, R.I.)
Took first in the 110-meter high hurdles at the Merrimack Carnival on Friday in 15.29-seconds, a time that would ranked 5th in the NE10 this spring.

Michel-Ange Siaba, Stonehill (Sr. - Palo Alto, Calif.)
Posted two marks that rank in the top five on the NE10 season performance charts with an event win and second place finish at the Merrimack Carnival on Friday afternoon. Led a sweep of the top three positions in the long jump, clearing a distance of 23-feet, 8.25-inches, the second-longest jump in the NE10 this spring. He also logged a personal-best with his second place in the triple jump, clearing a distance of 46-feet, 3.5-inches, to rank 5th in the NE10 this spring.
