NE10 Women's Outdoor Track & Field Report: Week 1

Week 1 - April 1, 2024

NE10 Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Hannah Caiola, Southern Connecticut State
Junior | Glastonbury, Conn.

At the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State University, Caiola finished fourth in the 400 Meters with a time of 53.78. Caiola's time was a PR and also ranks as the second-best time in the country for the year. She was also part of the Owls' 4x400 Relay team that finished third with a time of 3:43.92.


NE10 Women's Field Athlete of the Week

Rachel Fleischer, Southern Connecticut State
Graduate | Derby, Conn.

At the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State University, 2023 NCAA Division II Triple Jump All-American picked up where she left off with a distance of 12.24m for 8th place out of 30 competitors. Fleischer's mark is the second-best in the country to date. She also competed in the Long Jump and recorded a distance of 5.34m.


NE10 Women's Track Rookie of the Week

Carly Koprowski, Adelphi
Freshman l Wantagh, N.Y.

With a time of 2:16.87, Koprowski placed 10th overall at the Fred Hardy Invitational in the 800, resulting in the third best time in the East Region in the specialty following the opening weekend of outdoor season action. This weekend she raced to a top-10 finish in the 400, clocking in at 1:00.22 which is sixth best in the region and the top time for a first year.


NE10 Women's Field Rookie of the Week

Belle Smith, Southern Connecticut State
Freshman l Torrington, Conn.

At the Bobcat Invitational, 2023-24 NE10 Indoor Shot Put Champion posted a mark of 11.14m for 22nd place. She then followed with a season-best 33.93m in the Discus.


NE10 Men's Relay of the Week

4x400, Southern Connecticut State
At the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State University, the Owls' 4x400 Relay team of Avery Winters, Ella Maclean, Megan Swan and Hannah Caiola finished third out of 20 teams with a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time of 3:34.92.


NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Katherine Marsh, Adelphi (Gr., East Meadow, N.Y.)
Marsh ran the fourth fastest time in NCAA Division II to open the outdoor season as the team competed at the Fred Hardy Invitational in Richmond, VA. Marsh clocked in at 2:08.95, placing first in the field. At Monmouth this weekend, she raced to first in the 1500 at 4:36.12 which is the best time in the East Region - and is three seconds faster than the next competitor and just five seconds from an NCAA qualifying mark (4:31.00).

Jada Kamtha, New Haven (Fr., St. Catherine, Jamaica)
Kamtha finished top-three in all three events she competed in, including taking home medal honors once individually and once as a member of a relay team. Individually, she took home first place honors in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.82 while she also holds the top-time in the event in the NE10 which came earlier this season in Puerto Rico. Also on the track, she finished first as a member of the 4x100-meter relay. In the field, Kamtha finished third in the long jump with a distance of 5.39 meters (17'8.25")

Savannah Sistrunk, New Haven (Sr., Georgetown, Del.)
A first place finish as a member of the 4x100-meter relay highlighted the week for the Chargers sprinter while she also posted a pair of top-five finishes over the last two weeks, one each in the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash, the latter of which setting a personal best at the Wesleyan Swanson Invite.

Aniya Bush, New Haven (Fr., Williamstown, N.J.)
A pair of runner-up finishes for the rookie highlighted a rainy Saturday at the Swanson Invitational, with one of those in the long jump and one in the 100m hurdles. For her track event, Bush posted a time of 16.51 in the 100m hurdles, setting a new personal best while finishing second overall among the field.

Kristen Washington, New Haven (Gr.)
With a pair of personal bests, Washington led the Chargers to a second place finish as a team with first place performances in both the long jump and triple jump, hitting an NCAA provisional qualifying time in both events. In the long jump she finished with a mark of 5.89 (19'4), nearly a half meter longer than the closest finisher. In the triple jump, she leapt to a distance of 12.13 meters (39'9.75), this time beating out the next closest finisher by .48 meters.

Megan Swan, Southern Connecticut State (Fr., Albany, N.Y.)
At the Bobcat Invitational, Owls freshman Swan was part of both Owls' relays that finished in the top 10. In the 4x100, the Owls posted a time of 46.81 for 10th place and then followed with a 4x400 time of 3:43.92 for third place. Swan also competed in the 100 Meters and registered a time of 12.55.

Deirdre Bailat, SNHU (Fr., Billerica, Mass.)
Bailat ran her first 1500m at Saturday's SNHU Spring Invitational. She finished third in the race at 5:03.99.

Tori Limone, SNHU (Sr., Stoneham, Mass.)
Limone won the javelin at Saturday's SNHU Spring Invitational with a throw of 38.00m. Limone was competing for the first time since she won the javelin at last year's Outdoor Championships.

Corinna Obernesser, SNHU (So., Westminster, Colo.)
Obernesser started her outdoor season with a win in the 3000 Steeplechase at SNHU's Spring Invitational on Saturday in 12:00.59. She was also part of the 3rd place 4x4 relay team for the Penmen.
