Adelphi Women's Soccer Prepares Meals at Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Panthers Return to Ronald McDonald House for First Time Since COVID-19 Pandemic.

NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. - Several members of the Adelphi women's soccer team went to the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island this past weekend to cook meals for families of ill children at nearby hospitals.

This was the team's first trip back to the Ronald McDonald House since 2019, due in part to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year, the team -- in lieu of making a visit because of the ongoing health crisis -- collected and dropped off goods for the cause.

Only six representatives were able to make the trip because of health restrictions. The team prepared pasta and sausage with a side salad for the families in residence.

What Our Panthers Had to Say About the Visit:
Ashley Borriello: "It was a great experience preparing meals for the Ronald McDonald residents. Being able to put a smile on their faces during a difficult time makes the time we spent more worth it. I'm happy I was able to spread happiness with my teammates by my side and I am definitely looking forward to doing this again."

Morgan Flaherty: "Being able to cook for the residents of the Ronald McDonald house was such a rewarding experience. I hope that this small gesture makes their day even a little easier, knowing how much they are going through. I am grateful to have had the chance to put a smile on their face and have an impact on their day."

Jolie Kistinger: "It was such an awesome experience that I would definitely do again. It is such a rewarding feeling knowing that we were able to help out the residents and their families at the Ronald McDonald House. I loved that I was able to experience this with my teammates and work together to prepare the meals. It made me really appreciate everything that I have in life and I am so glad we were able to lend a little help to the residents."

Juliana Klaum: "It was a pleasure and such a fun experience to cook for the residents at the Ronald McDonald House. We had a great time working together to prepare the meals. It was a great feeling to be able to lend a helping hand."

Kayla Mushorn: "It was an amazing experience that I would love to do again. The residents go through so much on a daily basis, so being able to hopefully put a smile on their face and make their night a little easier makes my heart so full. I know there is so much more we could do and I am looking forward to being involved with the Ronald McDonald House in the future. It was great to be a part of something so big with my teammates by my side."

Morgan Salmon: "Volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House was a phenomenal experience. My teammates and I were able to make dinner for the residents who live in the house. We were even able to meet some residents, which was extremely rewarding. It was a pleasure to make them a home-cooked meal, so they could it enjoy it with their family. Such a small task like this can go a long way. I can't wait to come back with my teammates and spread more joy."
