Four Teams Earn Honors as Women's Outdoor Track & Field Major Awards are Announced

Adelphi, Franklin Pierce, SCSU & SNHU Earn Major Awards


MANSFIELD, Mass. - Southern New Hampshire's Ashley Corcoran repeated as the Northeast-10 Track Athlete of the Year, while Adelphi, Franklin Pierce and Southern Connecticut each had an award winner as the conference announced its outdoor track & field major award winners on Tuesday afternoon. 

Corcoran was honored as the Track Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row along with Lex Butler and the SNHU Staff, repeating as Coaching Staff of the Year. Adelphi's Kyria Moore won Field Athlete of the Year while SCSU's Anna-Sashia Jones earned Track Rookie of the Year and Franklin Pierce's Elizabeth Jones earned Field Rookie of the Year honors. 

Corcoran won the 1500, 3000 steeplechase and 5000, and was on the second-place 4x800 relay team, with her time in the 1500 (4:28.96) standing as a personal best. The graduate student earned 32 points to win the Most Outstanding Track Athlete and Most Valuable Athlete of the championship meet. 

Moore, who will compete in the hammer throw at the upcoming NCAA Championships, collected two gold medals at the NE10 Outdoor Championships. Moore won the shot put (12.25m) and hammer throw (49.89m) events, and placed seventh in discus (34.80m), en route to earning Most Outstanding Field Athlete at the championship meet.  

Anna-Sashia Jones, the Track Rookie of the Year, made the podium three times at the NE10 Outdoor Championships. She took first in 100M dash with a personal-best time of 12.00. Jones also ran a leg of the two first-place relay teams, 4x100 (46.39) and 4x400 (3:51.66). Elizabeth Jones was named Field Rookie of the Year after taking gold in pole vault with a clearance of 3.15m. Jones also competed in the shot put and discus events at the outdoor meet. 

Lex Butler and the Southern New Hampshire coaching staff led the program to its second-consecutive NE10 Outdoor Track & Field Title with 214 points.
