SCSU Claims Three Awards as Men's Outdoor Track & Field Major Awards are Announced

Assumption & SCSU Claim Four of Five Major Awards


MANSFIELD, Mass. – Southern Connecticut claimed Field Athlete of the Year and swept rookie awards, while Assumption took home Track Athlete of the Year and Franklin Pierce Coaching Staff of the Year as the Northeast-10 announced its outdoor track & field major award winners on Tuesday afternoon. 

Sean Barkasy and Duke Quermrllue earned Track and Field Rookie of the Year honors, respectfully, while Assumption's Tre'Sean Bouie was recognized as the Track Athlete of the Year and Jordan Davis the Field Athlete of the Year. Zach Emerson and the Raven staff was selected as the NE10 Men's Outdoor Track & Field Coaching Staff of the Year. 

Bouie won two individual events and ran a leg of the first-place 4x100 relay at the NE10 Outdoor Championships. He won the 200 (20.83) and 400 (46.35) with personal-best finishes, qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the 400. Bouie was named the Most Outstanding Track Athlete at the outdoor meet. 

Davis took gold in javelin with an NE10-record distance of 69.89m, en route to being named Field Athlete of the Year in the conference. Davis will compete at the NCAA Championships in javelin, as he is tied for second in the event heading into the championship. 

Barkasy, the Track Rookie of the Year, earned the honor after his first place finish in the 3000 steeplechase with a personal-best time of 9:27.35. Quermorllue was tabbed Field Rookie of the Year after taking second in the high jump with a height of 1.94m. 

Zach Emerson and his staff at Franklin Pierce earned Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the first time in program history. This year, the Ravens finished second at the NE10 Outdoor Championship wit 132 points, the most points the program has accumulated at the outdoor championships to date.
