SCSU Men & SNHU Women Lead NE10 Championships After Day 1

Owls & Penmen Lead After Day 1


BOSTON, Mass. – Following the first day of competition, the Southern Connecticut Men hold a sizable lead while the Southern New Hampshire women own a slight edge in the NE10 Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted at the Reggie Lewis Center. 

The Penmen had 46 total points to lead, ahead of New Haven who is second with 34 points. Stonehill is close behind in third with 33 while American International (26) and Southern Connecticut (23) round out the top five. 

On the men's side, the Owls more than doubled up second place AIC with 83 points, compare to 40 for the Yellow Jackets. Stonehill is third with 36 points while Franklin Pierce has 28 and New Haven is fifth with 24 points. 

Individually, Yvan Lopes Ribeiro set NE10 records in the long jump and the 60 meter hurdles. The Yellow Jacket started the day with a time of 7.84 seconds in the hurdles to eclipse the previous record of 7.90 seconds set in 2019. He followed up with a long jump mark of 7.63 to break the previous meet record of 7.42 meters. As a team, AIC also won the DMR in 10:01.13. 

SCSU swept the Pole Vault, led by Nathanial Llanos at 4.83 meters while Ja'Lil Reynolds of Saint Rose won the high jump in 1.91 meters. Connor Everidge earned victory for Franklin Pierce in the weight throw with a toss of 15.96 meters. 

For the women, Ashley Corcoran took home the NE10 Title in the 5000 meters with a dominant final two laps to finish in 17:30.41. She then led the Penmen to victory in the DMR in 12:35.26. Saint Rose's Stephanie Green earned a gold in the weight throw (16.54m) while Stonehill's Haley Lightbody took home first in the pole vault at 3.25 meters. AIC's Raven-Symone Jarrett took first in the pentathlon with a score of 3307.
