Elson Repeats in 1500M; Davis Wins Javelin.

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Not one, but two student-athletes from the Northeast-10 Conference captured NCAA national titles this past weekend at the Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held on the campus of Grand Valley State University.

American International's Callum Elson and Southern Connecticut's Jordan Davis etched their names into the record books on Saturday – claiming national championships in the 1500m and javelin throw, respectively. It is the second time in conference history that two different student-athletes won national titles at the Outdoor Championships (Leakey Kipkosgei and CeCeTelfer in 2018-19).

Elson and Davis highlighted the NE10's 16 individuals and two relay teams that competed in the NCAA Championships from Thursday to Saturday. Overall, the NE10 produced 14 All-Americans who earned 19 selections – including 11 on the First Team. Southern Connecticut had league-highs in number of athletes recognized for All-America honors (8) and total number of selections (13).

Elson won the NCAA title in the 1500m for the second time this season, following his gold medal at the Indoor Championships. He led from the start to the end of the race, finishing in a time of 3:46.35. It is the seventh national title in the history of the AIC track & field program. Elson becomes only the third AIC student-athlete to win multiple national titles (Leakey Kipkosgei and Ezra Mutai).

Davis won the javelin throw with a new school record of 72.54 meters – the 11th-best mark in Division II history and the eighth-best throw ever at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Davis becomes the second SCSU male student-athlete to win the NCAA title in javelin, joining Chris Sagnella in 1992. He also becomes the first SCSU student-athlete to win a national title at the NCAA Outdoor Championships since Kateema Riettie (javelin) in 2001 and 2002.

In a pair of other top-five finishes, SCSU's Turner Kelly finished in third place in the shot put (19.00 meters), while Franklin Pierce's Nouhayla Errahili took fourth in the high jump (1.73 meters).
