Women's Outdoor Track & Field Report: Week 1

Week 1 - March 29, 2022

NE10 Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Izzy Newbury, Southern Connecticut
Sophomore | Moosup, Conn.

Newbury had a strong start to the outdoor season at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational, recording personal-best times in the 100-meter hurdles (14.83) and 400-meter hurdles (1:03.35, and a fourth place finish). Both times are also the best in the NE10 this season, and her 400-meter hurdle time was 17th best in all of Division II this year and 11th best last week. Newbury was also a part of Southern's 4x400-meter relay team that finished with a time of 3:55.19, notably finishing ahead of Michigan and the fastest in the NE10 by over seven seconds so far during the outdoor season.


NE10 Women's Field Athlete of the Week

Neva Bostic, New Haven
Junior | Throws | Saint Johnsbury, Vt.

In her lone event at the Wesleyan Swanson Invitational, Bostic through a new personal best in the javelin with a distance of 124'5" to finish first overall among a field off 22. It is the best throw in the NE10 by over three meters.


NE10 Women's Track Rookie of the Week

Amari Johnson, Adelphi
Freshman | Hurdles | Mooresville, N.C.

Amari Johnson ran her first 100 hurdles race for the outdoor season over the weekend, placing fifth in the field with a time of 15.03 and the top non-division I competitor. This stands as the second fastest time in the event in the conference and is less than a second from an NCAA Provisional time.


NE10 Women's Field Rookie of the Week

Madison Gunderway, Stonehill
Freshman | Throws | Cranston, R.I.

In her debut for the hammer throw event, Gunderway had an impressive toss of 42.34 meters which was good for first place at the UMass Lowell Invitational and ranks second in the NE10.


NE10 Women's Relay of the Week

4x100 Relay, Southern Connecticut

The 4x100-meter relay team of Mackenie Glenn, Dardielle Exantus, Rachel Dube, and Ella Maclean finished in sixth place at the Hurricane Invitational with a time of 48.08. The time was the fastest by a Southern 4x100-meter relay team since having a time of 47.33 on May 11, 2019, during the New England Championships and is currently the fastest in the NE10 this year.


NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Isabel Marsh, Adelphi (So. - East Meadow, N.Y.)
Isabel Marsh ran the fastest non-D1 time at the 26th Annual Monmouth Univ. Opener this weekend, finishing 10th overall in a career-best time of 4:51.21. This stands as the second fastest time in the NE10 after this weekend's competitions.

4x400 Relay, Adephi
The Adelphi women's 4x400 ran for the first time this outdoor season, posting a time of 4:02.41 to place first overall at the 26th Annual Monmouth University Track & Field Season Opener. Their time stands as the second fastest in the NE10 after this weekend.

Peri Snow, Assumption (Jr. - East Bridgewater, Mass.)
Peri Snow won the 400-meter dash in a collegiate-best time of 1:01.25 at the Bridgewater State Bears Invitational over the weekend. She also anchored the third-place 4x400-meter relay which clocked in a time of 4:14.50.

Samantha Bilodeau, Bentley (Sr. - New Ipswich, N.H.)
At the Bridgewater State Bears Invitational, Bilodeau finished first in the 5,000 meters with her time of 18:47.04 best by a conference runner so far this season and good for 12th on Bentley?s all-time list.

Lucy Ambroult, Bentley (So. - Holbrook, Mass.)
Ambroult was first among 24 competitors in the long jump at the Bridgewater State Bears Invitational with her distance of 5.55 meters (18?2.5?) a new personal best by 6.25 inches and fourth best in program history. She also was first of 22 in the 100 (12.94), tenth of 62 in the 200 (28.27) and a member of the Falcon 4x100 relay team that was third of 12 in 51.16. Her 100 time ranked third on the NE10 performance list.

Nyjah Young-Bey, Franklin Pierce (Jr. - Montclair, N.J.)
Won both the 200 (25.16) and 400 (57.53) on Saturday at the Trojan Challenge, hosted by Mount Olive. Both times rank first in the NE10 on the young season.

Madison Kozyra, Le Moyne (So. - Marcy, N.Y.)
She won the discus throw with a program-record distance of 133-feet, 5-inches to win by over three and one-half feet at Susquehanna's Jim Taylor Invitational. She recorded a toss of 35-feet, 2.5-inches to place 11th in the shot put. She finished 14th in the hammer throw with a mark of 125-feet, 6-inches.

Elaina DiSalvo, Southern Connecticut (Gr. - Lake Grove, N.Y.)
In her first meet of the season, DiSalvo recorded a pole vault mark of 3.25 meters at the Montreat College Invitational. Her mark is the best in the NE10 during the outdoor season in the pole vault so far.

Jillian Howard, Stonehill College (Gr. - Weston, Mass.)
During the 1500-meter, Jillian Howard took home second place with a blistering time of 4:48.23 at the UMass Lowell Invitational.
