Fifth-Straight Honor for Wallin and SCSU Coaching Staff.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference announced its 2022 Men's Outdoor Track & Field major award winners on Tuesday afternoon, with Southern Connecticut leading the charge by earning three honors - including Nigel Green winning his second-consecutive Track Athlete of the Year recognition.

SCSU's Turner Kelly was unanimously chosen as the Field Athlete of the Year, while head coach John Wallin and his staff were tabbed as Coaching Staff of the Year after leading the Owls to their fifth-straight - and 18th overall - NE10 Outdoor Championship title. Assumption's Tre'Sean Bouie won Track Rookie of the Year and New Haven's Zerion Montgomery earned Field Rookie of the Year.

Green helped lead SCSU to the NE10 Outdoor title this spring after a strong performance that included a Championship record in the 100m with a time of 10.50. One week later, he won the 100-meter and 200-meter at the New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships - setting SCSU records in both events. Green qualified for the NCAA Championships in two individual events (100m and 200m) and two relay events (4x100m and 4x400m).

Kelly, who recently was named to the NCAA Championships in the shot put and hammer throw, becomes the fifth SCSU student-athlete to win Field Athlete of the Year since 2014. He was named both the Outstanding Field Performer of the Meet and Most Valuable Athlete at the NE10 Outdoor Championships by winning gold in the discus, hammer throw and shot put.

Bouie becomes the first Assumption athlete to win Track Rookie of the Year since Max Michaud in 2017. He finished second in the 400m and sixth in the 200m at the NE10 Outdoor Championships, while his season-best time of 47.35 in the 400m hit the NCAA qualifying mark. Montgomery, the first New Haven athlete to win Field Rookie of the Year, earned a silver medal in the long jump, took fifth in the triple jump and sixth in the high jump at the NE10 Outdoor Championships.

Wallin and his staff coached Southern Connecticut to its fifth-straight NE10 Outdoor title and 18th overall in program history in dominating fashion - scoring 269 points to outpace runner-up AIC by 141 points (128). The rest of the SCSU coaching staff consists of Brian NillCy McIntoshKade AmsterAdriana CarrascoOghenefejiro OnakpomaYakabu Ibrahim and Mustafa Abdur-Rahim
