Week 2 - April 5, 2022

NE10 Men's Track Athlete of the Week

Callum Elson, American International
Freshman | Leeds, England

Elson wasted no time in AIC's outdoor opener, running the conference's only NCAA Qualifying time in the 800-meter run at 1:51.23, the fastest time in the event for outdoor in the NE10 by 4.3 seconds this season.


NE10 Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Turner Kelly, Southern Connecticut
Graduate Student | Amityville, N.Y.

At the UConn Dog Fight, Kelly finished in first place in the shot put with a throw of 17.88 meters, third place in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.04 meters, and fourth place in the discus with a throw of 46.71 meters. His discus and hammer throws were the best in the NE10 this season, while his shot put throw was the second best in all of Division II last week.

NE10 Men's Field Rookie of the Week

Zerion Montgomery, New Haven
Freshman | Derby, Conn.

Montgomery finished his two events at this weekend's TCNJ Invitational taking home runner-up honors in both the long jump and triple jump. In his first time this spring competing in the triple jump, he leapt a distance of 13.43 meters which came on his first attempt of the day, registering second place overall. In the long jump, he hit a distance of 6.62 meters on his third attempt of the day with that holding up for second place, passing on his final three attempts.


NE10 Men's Relay of the Week

4x400 Relay, Southern Connecticut

The 4x400-meter relay team of Ramsley Exantus, Eli Henry, Sachin Manning and Nigel Green finished in first place with a time 3:14.48, best in the NE10 and eighth best in all of Division II last week.


NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Matthew Gemma, Adelphi  (Gr. - North Bellmore, N.Y. )
Matt Gemma posted the best time in the NE10 in the 3000 Steeplechase this weekend at the Same Howell Invite. For his sixth career effort in the specialty he ran it in a time of 9:43.42 - first time sub-10 minutes and a new career-best time.

Joseph Santos, Assumption (Sr. - Warwick, R.I.)
Joseph Santos broke the school record in the 110-meter hurdles at the Colonial Relays by finishing with a time of 15.01 seconds. He placed fifth behind four Division I student-athletes.

Brogan Bonsaint, Franklin Pierce (So. - Somersworth, N.H.)
Hit the NCAA qualifying standard in the javelin for the second time this season, with a throw of 58.91 meters, to win the event on Saturday at SNHU.

Devin Jones, Franklin Pierce (Sr. - Manchester, N.H.)
Posted individual wins in the 100 meters (11.33) and the 200 meters (22.04) on Saturday at SNHU, and was a part of the victorious 4x100-meter relay (42.71) as well.

Jordany Dely, New Haven (So. - Spring Valley, N.Y.)
In a pair of events at the TCNJ Invitational this past weekend, Dely finished top-three in both, including taking home the fastest time in the 110-meter hurdles (only ran in preliminaries) with career-best time of 15 second flat, the fastest time in the NE10 so far this spring season. He followed that up with a fourth place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.26, another career-best time for the sprinter.

Jacky Marescot, New Haven (Sr. - Spring Valley, N.Y.)
Marescot posted a pair of third place finishes in the two events he participated in at this past weekend's TCNJ Invitational. He opened up his day with a long jump of 6.59 meters on his first attempt which held up for third place overall after passing on his final three attempts. He then leapt for a distance of 13.28 meters, his longest of the Spring thus far, in the triple jump to finished third in that event.

Ramsley Exantus, Southern Connecticut (Sr. - Stratford, Conn.)
Exantus finished first place in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 53.18 at the UConn Dog Fight, the second best time in the NE10 this season. He was also part of the 4x400-meter relay team that finished in first place with a time of 3:14.48.

Nickolas McNamee, Stonehill (Sr. - Plymouth, Mass.)
Senior Nickolas McNamee led the way in the one-mile run, finishing first in a season's best time of 4:21.78.

Jacob Pacheco, Stonehill (So. - Merrimack, N.H.)
Pacheco placed second in the pole vault, when he set a new season-best clearing height of 13-feet, 5.25-inches.
