Elson National Championship Highlights Impressive NCAA Championships

16 Student-Athletes Named All-Americans 


PITTSBURG, Kan. – American International Callum Elson captured the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championship in the 1-mile event, the first NE10 student-athlete to win the event, and was one of 16 NE10 All-Americans at the 2022 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, which concluded on Saturday evening. 

Elson finished his 1-mile run in 4:08.59, edging out the second place runner by 0.43 seconds. The AIC first-year also earned All-American status by helping the Yellow Jackets take fourth in the DMR with a time of 9:39.26. 

AIC's Clement Paillon had the second-best finish of any athlete, finishing as the runner-up in the 800 meters with his time of 1:50.46. Southern Connecticut's Terrell Patterson placed seventh in the event to earn First-Team All-America honors with his time of 1:53.14. 

The Yellow Jacket distance medley relay placed fourth with a time of 9:39.26, while Southern Connecticut was 10th in the event to secure First-Team and Second-Team All-America recognition. The AIC quartet was made up of Jason Beaver, Marvin Dure, Paillon and Elson while SCSU was represented by Nigel Green, Owen Gagne, Jonathan Vople and Patterson. 

AIC's Yvan Lopes Ribeiro placed seventh in the 60 meter hurdles and ninth in the long jump to earn a pair of All-America honors while SCSU's Jaylynn Cundiff placed 10th in the long jump for Second-Team All-America recognition. 

On the women's side for AIC, Roxan Foster took sixth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.58 second while teammate Adia Cavalier was eighth in the triple jump with her leap of 12.28 meters as both were named All-Americans.
