NE10 Weekend Preview: Mar. 18-20
Every Friday, the NE10 is going to highlight the biggest contests each weekend. It may be a big-time rivalry, matchup between two ranked teams or a battle for playoff-positioning. Fans can follow the action for every game by visiting our schedule page.

BASEBALL

Le Moyne at Seton Hill: Friday, Mar. 18 – 2:00 p.m.­ (Live Stats)

Le Moyne will travel to play a big three-game series against No. 22 Seton Hill this weekend, as the Dolphins look to secure wins over the nationally-ranked Griffins. Under 12th-year head coach Scott Cassidy, the Dolphins (7-8) have won five of their last six games – including a high-scoring 16-14 victory over Bloomsburg on Tuesday. Ty Syta and Brady Fureno each had three hits and four RBI in the win.

Syta has a team-high 15 RBI this season for Le Moyne, while Drew Fureno leads the Dolphins at the plate with a .372 batting average. The pitching duo of Jacob Marshall (2-0) and Max Parker (2-1) has combined for four wins on the mound this season, as well as a 42-20 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

SNHU at Adelphi (DH): Sunday, March 20 – 12:00/3:00 p.m. (Live StatsVideo)

It will be a rematch of the 2021 NE10 Baseball Championship series when reigning champion SNHU visits Adelphi on Sunday for a doubleheader – as part of a three-game series that extends to Monday. No. 11 SNHU (9-2) has won three-straight and nine of its last 10, while Adelphi (5-3) recently took two of three games against Bridgeport.

The Penmen won their third NE10 title in 2021 following a doubleheader sweep of the Panthers. Adelphi will seek revenge this weekend in non-conference action when SNHU comes to Long Island. Kyle Olson leads the Panthers and all NE10 hitters this season with a .517 (15-for-29) average, while Sam Henrie of the Penmen is off to arguably the best all-around start of any player in the league – hitting .457 (21-for-46) with five home runs and 17 RBI.


SOFTBALL

The Setters seek to finish off their spring break trip with a pair of wins on Friday afternoon after going 4-2 through their first six games. Three of their six games have been decided by a single run. Caldwell is 3-3 so far this year with wins over Bentley and Stonehill already. The Golden Eagles are 8-12 on the year and beat SCSU earlier this year though they were shut out by Saint Anselm on Thursday.

Pace is batting .274 this year, led by Zoie Iverson who is hitting .444 with a team-high eight hits this year. Arianna Guarracino is 6-for-10 to post a team-high .600 average. Gisselle Garcia is 3-0 in 23.0 innings of work with 22 strikeouts and a 1.22 ERA.

Queens at Adelphi: March 18 – 1:30 p.m. (DH) (Live Stats - Video)

The Panthers are 8-6 and have won four straight as they look to keep the winning streak going when they face Queens on Friday. Over the last four games they've recorded three shutouts and given up two earned runs. Queens, meanwhile, is 0-2 following a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Georgian Court last week.

The Knights are batting .244 as a team and Joy Papagianopoulos is tied for the team lead with two hits. In the circle, Emma Wimmer has a 3.50 ERA and four strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work. Claire Fon has posted a 1.31 ERA for Adelphi, striking our 37 with a 4-3 record in 37.1 innings of work. Lindsey Hibbs also has four wins and a team-high 59 strikeouts. Courtney Wengryn leads the team with a .457 average to go with four doubles and 13 RBI.


MEN'S LACROSSE

No. 1 Le Moyne at No. 9 Saint Anselm: March 19 – 12 p.m. (Live Stats - Video)

It's a rematch of the 2021 NE10 Championship as these two top-10 teams meet on Saturday. Le Moyne is 4-1 this year and the Dolphins are coming off a 12-10 loss to No. 16 Florida Southern. Saint Anselm is 3-0 this year, but has yet to face a nationally ranked program while winning each contest by at least eight goals. Le Moyne went 2-0 against the Hawks last year, beating them 9-4 for the NE10 Title and then 11-7 in the NCAA Playoffs.

Saint Anselm is averaging 17.0 goals per game, led by 13 goals from Jack Andrews and 11 assists by Jack Robinson. All-American CJ Hart has been strong in net, with a 6.88 GAA and 58.5 save percentage. Carter Collins leads Le Moyne with 21 points on 14 goals and seven assists while Zach Pierce has nine goals and seven assists. Frank Delia owns a 9.76 GAA with a 57.1 save percentage.  

No. 17 Bentley at St. Rose: March 19 – 4 p.m. (Live Stats - Video)

St. Rose is off to its best start in program history at 5-1 and looks to take down its first ranked opponent of the year when the team hosts Bentley on Saturday. The Falcons are 2-1 this year and 1-0 in the NE10. The lone loss for both teams this year has been to No. 6 Mercy. Bentley came up short 15-9 while the Golden Knights lost 11-8.

The Falcons are averaging 13.0 goals per game this year thanks to 14 points from Ben Baldasaro and 12 from Luke Jaber, both have tallied ten goals apiece. In net, Keaton Roarick owns a 9.92 GAA with a 51.7 GAA. Eddie Baker and Cam Smith each have 21 goals to pace St. Rose, and are two of three Golden Knights with at least 20 points this year. Ryan Fleming, meanwhile, ranks second in the NE10 with a 69.3 save percentage while posting a 5.74 GAA with 52 saves.


WOMEN'S LACROSSE

No. 21 Saint Anselm at No. 16 Embry-Riddle (FL): Friday, Mar. 18 – 5:00 p.m. (Live StatsVideo)

No. 21 Saint Anselm will get a tough road test when it plays Embry-Riddle (FL) on Friday evening in Daytona Beach. The Hawks (3-0) are undefeated through three games, which includes a victory over nationally-ranked Saint Leo this past Wednesday. Head coach Meghan Smith, in her seventh season at Saint Anselm, looks to finish non-conference play on a high note before the Hawks play their first NE10 contest next Tuesday.

Lexi Palmisano is tied for fourth among NE10 players with 14 goals this season, while goalkeeper Grace Young ranks in the top five in the Conference in wins (3), saves (28) and save percentage (58.3). Friday will be the first all-time meeting between Saint Anselm and Embry-Riddle (FL). ERAU is 8-0 this year and has already taken down three ranked teams thus far, including Assumption by a 14-10 margin.

No. 14 Bentley at No. 12 Mercy: Saturday, Mar. 19 – 1:00 p.m. (Live StatsVideo)

Reigning NE10 Champion Bentley will travel to play No. 12 Mercy on Saturday afternoon in the final non-conference game for the Falcons (2-0). Bentley is coming off victories over AIC and Molloy to start its 2022 campaign in dominant fashion. The Falcons will begin NE10 play on Tuesday at No. 20 Assumption.

Goalkeeper Maya Rose, who replaced Eliza Bresler – the 2021 IWLCA National Goalkeeper of the Year, is off to a strong start for Bentley. Rose has posted a 2-0 record with a 62.5 save percentage, which ranks second-best among all NE10 goalkeepers. Mercy (4-2) is coming off wins over Assumption and Georgian Court, as well as a one-goal loss to No. 2 Le Moyne. Bentley is 2-1 all-time against Mercy, with their most recent matchup in 2020.
